The Korean War is often reffered to as "The Forgotten War" Why exactly might that be?
those who served and died then are just as worthy of rememberance as someone in the Second World War or the Vietnam War, I never even learn about it at school, what's the deal?
It was the first major conflict after World War Two in which we participated and it wasn't a war. It was the first UN Peace Enforcement Mission approved by the UN Security Council under the authority granted it by Chapter Seven of the UN Charter. That Council Resolution came only three years after we had passed the UN Support Act. We were hoping to make that organization work the way that those who founded it wanted. But, had it not been for the Soviet delegate boycotting that session of the Security Council, the mission would never have been approved.
Americans understand war. They may not like it, but they understand it. But, this idea of a peace enforcement mission with a limited goal of restoring the state of things which existed before hostilities broke out was something completely new. So, a lot of people opposed it.
We showed the same lack of understanding in the UN Peace Enforcement Mission that dealt with the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
People wondered why our forces didn't go to Baghdad at that time, even though that wasn't their mission.

Why is korea the forgotten war?
There was alot of brave us soldier who fought in it. so why do people talk more about ww2 and vietnam but never korea? alot of brave actions took place at that war. some would be great movies but war movies alway have a ww2 them or vietnam theme. and if the war is a forgotten one does the men who fought there get no respect that they deserve?
so basically it was seesaw war and that is why its not not remebered?
