Sugarland Tickets - Joining The Lineup For Lilith Fair
Lilith Fair is widely known for showcasing a group of talented female artists and this year's lineup is already looking to feature a wide array of musical talent. On July 3, the performers will take the stage at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington. Artists that are already scheduled for the evening include Sarah MacLachlan, Sugarland, Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu and Colbie Caillat. Lilith Fair took place during the summers of 1997 and 1999 and was the inspiration of popular Canadian musician Sarah McLachlan. The traveling festival showcases solo female artists and female-led bands and will finally be making an appearance after more than ten years. In other Sugarland news, it seems as if the duo is currently in the studio working on material for a new album, although according to their website "their lips are sealed" as to the actual content of the songs. Perhaps they will give a preview of a couple of the new tunes at the upcoming Lilith Fair Festival.
The country-pop outfit initially started as a trio of singer/songwriters all of whom hailed from Atlanta, Georgia. Their first full-length album arrived in 2004. Called Twice the Speed of Life, it featured the collaboration of Kristen Hall, Kristian Bush and Jennifer Nettles and ended up presented fans with a sleek and solid collection of country-pop ballads that easily reached mainstream audiences across the country. One of the more notable tracks from the album was "Small Town Jericho," which really helped put Sugarland on the map in the music industry.
Sugarland, however, wasn't cut out for being just a one-hit wonder and two years later they put forth their sophomore effort, Enjoy the Ride. The difference on this album was that Sugarland had been tailored down to a duo, with the sudden departure of Kristen Hall who was credited with working on only one track from the release. Bush and Nettles co-wrote most of the material on Enjoy the Ride, so there was clearly plenty at stake for the group's second effort. Fans and critics seem to agree however, they did not disappoint. Nettles channels blues, soul and R&B while Bush offers up a bit of roots rock, all of which makes for a magical record, complete with tunes like "Want To," "Everyday America" and "One Blue Sky."
For those who doubted that there was nowhere to go but down for Sugarland, the duo proved them wrong with their third release Love on the Inside. Critics hailed the record as magical and poetic and many would argue that it is their best release to date. Bush and Nettles co-wrote all of the tracks, with standouts being "We Run," "Love" and "Take Me As I Am." With repeated success on all of their albums, it will be interested to see what Sugarland presents next. Check them out at Lilith Fair and when they perform on their own!
