Favorite Grateful Dead song/lyric and why?
Since getting an Ipod for Father's Day in 2005, I just can't get enough of the Dead. I went to 1 concert in the 70s and had a great time and always heard their music at home and with friends, but was never a Dead Head. Now I practically can't listen to anything else. More than 1/2 of my 6Gb Ipod is taken up by Dead and Jerry Garcia music.
Ahhh the Grateful Dead. You know it's been over 10 years since they have been around, but I can still remember the shows like it was yesterday. One single song? One single lyric/line? No way. I may be able to narrow it down to a few individual shows. Now if you really REALLY want to hear some "dead on" truly incredible beauty, then you need to buy Dicks Picks Vol.9. I'm telling you man, that was a show that would have made God himself be amazed. The other real significance of that show was it was the first show they did after Brent died....I'll never forget how nervous me and all the other heads were about it. How will it be without Brent? Well it ended up being one of the greatest Dead shows of all time. I remember afterwords we were talking about it and it was like: "My God, were going to be OK. This is really going to work." Then about 5 years later is when Garcia died. We all knew it was over the day it happened. All we could do is mourn his loss and be grateful that we were in the time and in the same universe as these incredible shows were. Not only that, but able to enjoy and appreciate them. It was like we had gotten more than our fair share of pure joy. The line then...and now, that made the most sense about the reality of what had happened, what was happening right now, and what will happen is: "The wheel is turning and you can't slow down. You can't let go and you can't hold on. You can't go back and you can't stand still." That's all I have to say......again, Dicks Picks Vol.9

Dave Matthews Band Tickets - Summer Tour 2010
The Dave Matthews band is made up of Matthews, Stefan Lessard, Leroi Moore, Boyd Tinsley, and Carter Beauford. The group is best known for the unmistakable sound that is a more pop-oriented version of the Grateful Dead crossed with the worldbeat explorations of Paul Simon and Sting. Dave Matthews built up a strong word-of-mouth following in the early '90s by touring the country constantly, concentrating on college campuses.
In the past decade, Dave Matthews Band has earned the distinct honor of being the biggest concert ticket seller worldwide, selling upwards of a whopping 11 million tickets to 547 shows from 2000-2009, according to Billboard. In fact, DMB were the only group to exceed 10 million in attendance for the period. Now that's what I call putting asses in the seats. Additionally, the band has sold over 17 million tickets since its inception. Basically, a lot of people head out to see "Dave" and drink beers and singalong to his regular guy rock anthems!
With preparations underway for its 20th consecutive summer tour, the group will actually be taking a break soon! DMB recently told fans that they will be taking next year off. "We feel lucky that our tours are a part of so many people's lives," Dave Matthews Band said collectively in a statement posted on the band website earlier this month. "We're excited to make this summer one of our best tours yet, and look forward to returning to the road in 2012." So if you are a huge DMB worshipper, get out to see the band this summer, since you won't have a chance next year. During the summer tour this time, the Dave Matthews Band will perform in various places like Hartford, Toronto, New York, Mansfield, Cincinnati, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Wisconsin, Philadelphia, Virginia, Florida, Washington DC, California and Texas. The summer tour which begins in CT Comcast Theatre in Hartford on May 28, ends at MN Xcel Energy Center, St Paul on September 15.
