Design meaning behind two company logos?
I'm taking a graphic design class, and one of our projects is to draw and then explain company logos, and I'm stuck on two.

I need to know what's functional about the designs, for example, the Amazon.com logo there's an arrow going from A - Z that also looks like a smile.
Does anyone see anything designy about these two logos? Thanks for the help.
The first brand uses script for the type, which gives emphasis on style. The free form script is a common characteristic of French-inspired logos and modern artistic establishments.
Galeries is red to attract the eyes easily so that is the first thing your eyes will set upon.
NWA's logo is almost completely geometrical to establish a sense of stability and to portray the mechanical nature of their service, the nwa is squashed to give a sense of flatness or down to the ground, thus giving it more stability. try to research the history of the red inverted triangle and the gray circle cos there is definitely a meaning to that.
