two year olds behaviour has changed ---now really clingy its getting really bad.?
Im 7 months pregnant and although we have told my son there is a baby in there is it possible he actually understands and could be behaving this way for that reason? He is 22 months and wants me all the time he wont even kiss his dad night or go to anyone else while im there. However, if i leave the room and he sees me go he gets upset but comes around really quickly and plays with his dad/nan etc...
for example today his dad took him for his bath but he screamed for me but we didnt give in andafter a minute he was fine and enjoying his bath. i popped into bathroom to wash my hands and my son stood up and sobbed for me real tears and what seemed like really distressed. why is this and how can we break the cycle before the baby arrives?
He goes to a childminder 3 days a week and is fine there too x
I wouldn't try to "break the cycle" as you say, but just view it as normal behavior for his age. Many kids that age get really really attached to their moms. My son is 18 months and went thru a phase where he would cry when my husband walked in the room. All he wanted was me, me, me.
Try to accept that it's normal, yes it will subside, and just keep going abouat your business as usual. It won't hurt him to cry a bit and the more you allow him to control your behavior because of his fits, the more he'll continue to do them.
