What's an example of a situation where you'd make quote marks in the air with your fingers?
Weird question, I know...my Korean friend, who I met at a German class here in Berlin, said she saw the gesture in an episode of Friends but doesn't know what it means (she has never been to the States). I tried to explain it but couldn't think of a really good example of when it would be used. I mean, I know what it means and I've used it myself, but I couldn't explain it (in German no less, but I'll take care of that part). Can anyone help me think of an example?
it would be used when you are emphasizing or mocking something that someone is lying about but thinks that everyone thinks is the truth.
Example:
"There's John and his "ROOM-MATE"....."
